Nice, FRANCE, Florence, ITALY, Milan ITALY and Como, ITALY across the pond in EUROPE ...
SEFC teams and players competed at all of these venues in '07 ...
COACHES' CORNER ...
On July 10th Michael DeBaise had this to say about one goal his 17/18 boys had scored on their recently completed tour of southern France and northern Italy ...
" Perfection ... On the Pitch and Across the Pond ..! "
" It is always gratifying, as a coach, when your players take information you have provided them, and achieve a positive result through proper application and correct execution. During SEFC's recent European tour our 17/18 boys' team provided numerous positive results, the best of which occurred during the team's second match versus an 18 year-old Italian side from the seaside city of Livorno. In a match where our boys found the back of the net seven ( !!! ) times, one particular goal stood far above the rest. It was perfection ! "
" Gus Christensen ( SEFC U15 Red ) built quickly and smartly out of the back third with a crisp grounded pass to midfielder Mitch DelVecchio ( SEFC U17 ) who had ably positioned himself as a wide target. As the pass was being connected, Will Daniels ( SEFC U16 ) made a bold crossing run to the sideline. Sealing off his defender, Will checked forward to accept the two-touch pass from Mitch. As he received the ball Will took two touches toward Mitch, leaving his defender in a lurch, and then passed a perfectly weighted and diagonally grounded ball in the direction of the weak-side corner flag. Andres Cordido ( SEFC U18 ), the second striker, seeing two defenders in his path, correctly chose to step over the ball and allowed it to continue undeterred onto the foot of on-rushing outside midfielder, Steven DiCairano ( SEFC U17 ). Steven took one touch and then rocketed the ball just inside the Italian goalkeeper's far post. It was a brilliant goal. It was sheer perfection !!! "
" I still get goose bumps thinking about it. "
Congratulations to the SEFC U18 Boys ... CHAMPIONS of the CT Premier League U18 Green Division ... By Beating FC Ponte 2 - 1 the Boys Finished a Perfect 5 - 0 - 0 Scoring 19 Goals and Yielding a Mere 3 ..! Well Done Gentlemen ..!

DIRECTOR'S CORNER ... ( Comments and Chatter )
On May 12th Coach Kris Boyle's U15 Boys played a Friendly with World Class' 16s . Our boys won a very physical match under difficult conditions, 2 -1, but Kris' true genius was reflected in his management of his players' emotions and the discipline and poise he works tirelessly to instill in them . Brian Hiaendiges of World Class, in an e-mail to Jon Moore of SEFC, wrote this of Kris and the team ... "Please pass on to your coach and team some appreciation for the coaching style - positive and reinforcing and holding the team to a high standard of expectation of behavior. Our coach has just started filling in after the team has been through considerable changes and is trying to create the same positive atmosphere ..." As director of coaches for SEFC i would like to remind all of our players, coaches and parents that " how it is we compete and compose ourselves is the true measure of success ." These lessons will remain with us when the final score has long been forgotten ... WELL DONE Coach ..!
COACHES' CORNER ... ( Comments and Chatter )
On May 16th Michael DeBaise had this to say of his U18 Boys ...
"Last night we played a friendly match with Club Napoli's Men's Open Team . This side is comprised of quality players between the ages of 19 to 32 . They are presently ranked 2nd in the CT Men's Open Division . While both sides were missing a player or two, each was ably represented . While i would love to report a victory by SEFC's boys, alas the men's side proved to be tactically and physically superior . The final score was 5 - 0 . Certainly their were many positives . For the most part our work-rate was exemplary and many of the boys made significant contributions as they endured and responded to the continuous pressures applied by their opponent . I can honestly say that more was learned at the hands of this superior opponent than would be in dominating a weaker one. Management of the back and midfield lines was continually put to the test as was keeper Kevin Woodford, who was outstanding . The point to remember is that while winning is always to be strived for, learning the nuances and enduring the demands of the "game" are the true measures of success . .."
On April 23rd Coach Stan Latkowski wrote this of his U18 Girls ...
" Last night we played the u-18 Rocky Hill Pride . We had 9 players ! In all of my years of coaching, I've never been prouder than I was last night . We played a 1 - 3 - 3 - 1 system . The girls bought into it and defended very well and we also had some chances as well . We were down 1 - 0 at halftime. We were definitely in the game . With 10 minutes to go Kaitlin gave a beautiful through ball to Carolyn who finished it for a great goal. Two minutes later the referee gave them a free kick, undeservedly, which resulted in their second goal. The girls could have given up right there and I would not have blamed them. To boot, Stephanie hurt her foot and we pulled her off. We are down 2 - 1 with 8 players and six minutes to go . We pushed forward trying to equalize, and low and behold , Kaitlin gave another through ball and this time Colleen ran onto it . She held off the defender and hit an absolute rocket from 20 yards out . The game ended up tied at 2 goals each ! I have never been prouder, or happier for a group of girls than I was at that moment . Their heart, determination and hustle was second to none . I am very proud of all of you . A job well done ! "

On March 28th Alex Coutts of the U17 Boys wrote ...
"Over the weekend of March 24th and 25th the Soccer Extreme FC U17 Boys traveled to the state of Virginia to participate in the Prince William County Ice Breaker. In the team's three games, the team tried to acclimate itself to outdoor play while integrating five new players. Although the team lost three close games, the experience allowed the boys to become more accustomed to each other while playing in a high level tournament . "
